A Nottinghamshire comedian receiving treatment for cancer will return to the stage in Bawtry for a charity comedy night supporting Cure Leukaemia.
Russ Lee will perform at The Bull and Lobster on Thursday 10 September 2026. The show begins at 8pm, with all ticket proceeds set to go to the blood cancer charity.
The comedian became involved after Adam Hopewell, from The Bull and Lobster, asked him to help raise money for the cause.
Comedy night supporting Cure Leukaemia
The event will support Adam's fundraising for Cure Leukaemia ahead of the AJ Bell Great North Run 2026.
Cure Leukaemia funds specialist research nurses at blood cancer centres across the UK, helping eligible patients access potentially life-changing treatments through clinical trials.
Lee said: "I'm currently going through stage two melanoma myself, and this will be my first gig back after treatment."
He added that he wanted to help The Bull and Lobster raise as much money as possible for the charity.
Russ Lee returns to stand-up
Lee began performing stand-up after surviving a brain haemorrhage in December 2024. He has since appeared at comedy venues across the country and spoken publicly about how the experience encouraged him to pursue comedy.
The Bawtry fundraiser will mark his return to live performance following his recent cancer treatment.
The evening's promotional material describes the event as a night of "laughs, community and hope", with Lee hosting a comedy show created specifically to support the fundraising campaign.
