Doncaster Rovers took three points from their home fixture against Burton Albion, with defender Leon Ayinde delivering a standout performance that earned him man of the match.

Jay McGrath praised the team's display, highlighting the contrast between the first and second halves. "The first half was very good, and then in the second half, it was a bit of a different display where we showed a lot of grit and determination," McGrath said.

Strong Defensive Foundation

The victory extends Doncaster Rovers' run to three consecutive clean sheets. McGrath stressed the importance of solid defending as a platform for attacking play. "Keeping clean sheets gives the team a platform to go up the other end and score to win games. If we do our job, we're not going to lose, so that's what's important," he explained.

McGrath credited the team's defensive work on the training ground. "I think togetherness and working together on the training ground. We've been doing a lot of work, defending as a unit, defending crosses, things like that. That understanding of each other and how we all play, how each other moves, it really helps."

Ayinde's Impressive Performance

Leon Ayinde scored in the match and was named man of the match for an electric display on the right-hand side. "He was brilliant. Leon's got the ability to run away with a game like he did — he's constantly driving forward, constantly taking people on and then, you know, can produce a great finish like he did," McGrath said.

The win marked Doncaster Rovers' first league game back following the international break, with McGrath reflecting on sending supporters home satisfied. "To send them off with three points is great. Hopefully they're happy because we're happy!"
