Doncaster Rovers have rejected a transfer bid for Luke Molyneux, manager Grant McCann has confirmed. The winger has been a key player since joining in 2022 and was instrumental in Rovers' League Two promotion during the 2024/25 season.

Molyneux scored 16 goals and won multiple end-of-season awards including Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Year. He was also named in the League Two Team of the Season.

Contract rejection came first

McCann revealed that Molyneux rejected a new contract offer before the transfer bid arrived. "We offered the contract way before the bid," McCann said. "Luke, unfortunately, has not wanted to get into negotiations. He's rejected a deal, which is his prerogative."

The numbers

The 28-year-old has 71 goal contributions in three seasons and enters the final year of his current deal.

Bailey contract talks progressing

Meanwhile, the club are in advanced talks with midfielder Owen Bailey over a new contract. McCann suggested a deal is close after Bailey's impressive League One campaign that saw him score 12 league goals as club captain.
