Doncaster Rovers U18s secured a 2-0 victory over Northampton Town in pre-season action at Cantley Park this morning.
The first half saw both sides evenly matched, with the score level at the break. Rovers had an early opportunity when midfielder Tommy Barnett's free-kick curled just over the crossbar.
Second-half dominance
The young Rovers side made their mark after the interval, scoring twice within ten minutes. Barnett opened the scoring with an excellent strike after collecting a deep cross from Rohan Chabvonga down the right flank. Romeo Echianu quickly added the second, tapping in after Kaylen Thompson's pressure forced a loose ball from the Northampton goalkeeper.
Rovers controlled the remainder of the match to secure back-to-back pre-season wins under manager Ryan Cresswell.
