Eight people were arrested after two suspected illegal gambling venues in Doncaster were raided in an operation involving multiple agencies.
The operation, codenamed Operation Snaresbrook, targeted two unlicensed premises. The raids involved the Gambling Commission, Immigration Enforcement, South Yorkshire Police and City of Doncaster Council's trading standards and licensing teams.
Arrests and charges
One person was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Gambling Act 2005. Seven others were arrested for alleged immigration offences, according to City of Doncaster Council.
Items seized
Officers seized almost £9,000 in cash during searches of the properties. They also recovered evidence of illegal gambling activity, including poker tables, slot machines and account books.
The council declined to comment on the date of the operation or the specific locations of the raided premises, citing ongoing investigations.
