Owen Bailey has signed a new three-year contract with Doncaster Rovers ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The midfielder has also been confirmed as club captain for a second season after scoring 16 goals in all competitions during the 2025/26 season.
Manager Grant McCann has rewarded Bailey's performance with the fresh terms, which Bailey says was instrumental in his decision to extend his stay at the club.

Bailey explained what encouraged him to commit his future to South Yorkshire. He said: "I think there's just a really good feeling around the place at the minute. Since I came to the club, there's been a massive shift in how we feel we are, and there's a lot of work going on off the pitch as well, but I think the biggest thing for me is the gaffer."
"He's been massive for my development and my career, and he made it clear that he wanted to keep us at the club and he's done a lot for me to stay. I've had some really good conversations with him and I think that was a massive thing."
Bailey added: "The way that the gaffer has spoken to me and treated me since I came to the club has been unbelievable. It's a big thing for me to want to repay that and commit my future here and give everything when I go out on the pitch and I'll continue to do that and I'm just delighted that I've been given the opportunity to do that."
