Goalkeeper Tommy Simkin has earned a call-up to the England U21 squad for the Young Lions' October internationals. The 21-year-old, on loan from Stoke City, will add to his six caps as he joins Lee Carsley's side for their UEFA Euro U21 qualifying campaign.

Simkin has made seven appearances in all competitions for Doncaster Rovers since arriving in the summer. He impressed in the Carabao Cup, saving two penalties in Rovers' shootout victory over Stockport County in August.

Three Rovers players in October squads

Simkin is the third Doncaster Rovers player to receive an international call-up this October, alongside Leon Ayinde and Seán Grehan.

England U21 qualifying fixtures ahead

England U21 are unbeaten in qualifying Group D, with six wins from seven matches. They will complete their qualifying campaign with home fixtures against Kazakhstan U21 on Friday 25 September (7.45pm kick-off) and Slovakia U21 on Friday 2 October (7.45pm kick-off), before travelling to Republic of Ireland U21s on Tuesday 6 October (6pm kick-off).

Doncaster Rovers wish Simkin well during his time away with the Young Lions.
